Bird scarers

Do the Porter kites / flags on a long pole / spinning balls actually work? Crow bangers are great but not with horse paddocks being the next field.....

I've had such a problem with pigeons this winter I ended up getting a trade account with Portek !

I can get you anything here http://portek.co.uk/bird-scaring/ way cheaper than you will from elsewhere, just PM me what you want and I will sort a price

I find the kites quite good, haven't tried the hawkeye, sentinel or crop guard - bangers seem best for us, the rope bangers are a lot easier than moving batteries and gas bottles about and what ever method you use it seem that variation in location is the key to stop them getting used to it

Thankyou Clive, could you put a price out, PM if you prefer, as to what the cost of each of the 3 Portek scarers are please - Hawkeye, Sentinel & Crop Guard. I really dont want to pee the horse neighbour off with bangers if I can help it.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
