Bird seed rat problem

A couple of years ago we had some very late combined spring barley here next to a village. By the time we got to it it was hooching with rats and the villagers weren’t best pleased. What’s to say all these bird seed mix plantings won’t also become hooching with rats when we move into ELMS? It’s all very well creating habitats for birds etc but generally Mr Rat hasn’t read the script and being the opportunist he is he will likely capaitalise on all that free food. Has Zac Goldsmith thought of this?

We once grew a sunflower bird mix around the house, it looked lovely😊!! Thought I would go and collect some sunflower seeds for sowing the following year, not a seed in the flower head🤔, couldn't think why as not seen many birds, sat indoors watching and it was absolutely heaving with 🐀!!!🤢we now make sure it's planted well away from the yard and houses!!🙄

Big problems in the towns with them under bird feeders.

My house user to be two semis. Neighbour blamed rats on grain store. Nah. When I knocked them together, the colonies of rats under and around his eight bird feeders, under his composter, in and amongst the rock garden, around the pond etc. Two days with an excavator and they're gone.

Perhaps wild bird seed plots will be rentable to rat shooters seeking "vermin control"?
