Except no sane person would have reacted like that on 1/1/20, based on the available information.
The very earliest that restrictions could have reasonably been considered is 23/1/20 when the city of Wuhan was put under quarantine orders although the very fact the area was quarantined might have falsely reassured other nations that restrictions were not necessary.
You should remember that Donald Trump was roundly mocked by almost everybody when he announced that he would ban entry for most foreign nationals who had traveled to China within the last 14 days on 31/1/20.

Sadly, you're right. I expect next time will be a very different story though.

there was a labour councillor who said something similar, as much as I dislike Blair or Corbyn, it wouldnt even cross my mind to think such a thing, a couple of other forums Im on have people saying similar things too, you do wonder what sort of people live in this world

What a speech!! The wife just showed me it, she’s never followed politics but as many, very grateful for a down to earth and great leader.
Glad to see him out of hospital, on the road to recovery and individually naming the nurses who cared for him, a true man of the people!
