The famous BA "global makeover" livery that Margaret Thatcher dropped her hanky over in 1997 in disgust was designed by a Botswanan lady who only received about £50 for it, so there are savings to be made.

Wasn't sure about the exact amount, but it was a tiny percentage of what the ad men and PR people took.

She was paid five times the average national wage for her country, which is not to be sniffed at. We have to be very careful when comparing our UK standards to other countries.

To put that in context, it would be like giving an unknown UK artist £150k for one piece of artwork.

Not bothered, a country with the status and standing of the U.K. should care about its image and the way its leaders are presented abroad. When you go to a wedding or important business meeting do you wear rags or your best suit?

😂 what status and standing is that??

People care more about ones substance than looks.

Oh dear. The UK? Its image and the way its leaders are presented abroad? Bigging that up is definitely not the hill I'd choose to die on.
