Ah, does it generally work OK, as in not killing grass and everything else, just the bracken? I've got some I need to get rid of.

reckon wiper would be economical way to go hitting only what you want to kill

Yes but it's too late this year I guess. The bracken has to be green, if it's yellowing or browning its too late.
An additive is helpful. I used Warrior the last 2 years, seems to have been replaced by Impetus now.

Depending on the grass species, it may knock the grass back a bit, but it should recover.
If you have a dense area of bracken, then most of the chemical from an overall boom application should hit the bracken and not reach any grass underneath. If you only have small patches, then you may be better doing spot application with a knapsack, and then you only spray the bracken.

Mike Davies (mdair) is advertising in the Daily Post for prospective customers for 2019 season to get in touch now in order to allow time for all the paperwork and permissions to be completed. His helicopter was working here in the cwm last year and the year before.

I went with Mrs Y to look at the primrose dell this w/e. I was surprised to find numerous fronds coming, the tallest of which had already opened out its second laterals. I can't find any elsewhere.
I was amused to find Asulox for sale on Ebay, 141 pounds for 2.5 gallons, shipping from US is 370 pounds!

I've done 3 mornings work so far, .8 litres of Asulox each time, the max weight of water that the quad will take. I've just ordered an electric knapsack off ebay. I'm fed up with pumping the 5 litre garden sprayer I use for the scattered bits. I was trying to stuff through the furze to get at some patches yesterday. I'll have to take the saw and cut some access into it I think.
I was thinking of posting some before and after pictures but then the site has changed everything so I'll hold off on that until I get more used to it.

Here they are. The before ones date from 2015 and were taken about a month after I'd been through with the rotowiper.
The after ones are from June this year.

I surmise that the area on the left and above has been cleared previously?
Are you going on to attack the area on the right?
What has been happening in the extreme foreground of the picture?
Is it cleared furze or cleared forestry?
Plenty of work for a helicopter in your area!

Sorry I missed this post of yours over the summer,
The area left and top is all part of the same burn as that wiped patch of bracken- fire brakes cut, area burnt, then area cut, then following summer I wiped the bracken.
The rest of the area is cleared furze, mix of euro and western.

Aerial photos from the 50s show a big area of grass!

Seems like a funny move because Asulam is extremely selective for bracken (and ferns).
So ineffect, the powers that be have only left us non selective Glypo to use on bracken..... seems abit of a own goal.



Asulox has gotten extremely expensive mind, dad said it used to be cheaper than round up!
