BBC News - Australia jobs: 'The staffing issue is impossible'

Brexit again
I'm afraid they are reaping their just rewards. Happy to pay min wage on zero hour but when it all got turned off most of those folk get sent home with nothing. You can't blame them for not going back. In a small way, I was one of them. Get f**ked. Don't really need to put wages up but people do need protection against insane politicians turning their jobs off and on willy nilly and then dumping them and expecting them to crawl back when they decide it's 'freedom day' or some shite. Employers need to start being just that even if it puts prices up.

The article is very inaccurate, Australia does have issues with getting staff, as they have a strong economy that is understandable, the staffing shortage grew when Australia shut their borders due to Covid, denying the younger generation the chance to work a few years in the lucky country on short term working holiday Visas. We have a similar problem here.

Good staff are hard to find and get paid considerably more than the minimum wage, simply put if you only offer the minimum wage you have no staff. Pay peanuts get monkeys.
