Will you give your bull an extra week this time?
Nope.
Herd cows get 3 weeks 3x black Angus then 3 weeks 2x red Angus and 1x black Angus.
Heifers get 3 weeks AI then 3 weeks 2x black Angus.

I just say noI quite like calving all year round. If the Mrs asks me to do something or any relatives are approaching I can always say I have a cow calving and do one.
Hope you give the poor lass the option for more than six weeks!!!I just say no
Well I'm not aiming to breed her, just practicingHope you give the poor lass the option for more than six weeks!!!
I take it your Mrs isn't involved in the farm then?I quite like calving all year round. If the Mrs asks me to do something or any relatives are approaching I can always say I have a cow calving and do one.
Yes she is.I take it your Mrs isn't involved in the farm then?
I'm very lazyI don’t really get why people would want cows calving at one time of the year. I accept it’s not for everyone to always be calving but doesn’t bother me. A few other folks I know who calve all year round say the same. It usually means regular sales of cattle too
What don't you get about it?I don’t really get why people would want cows calving at one time of the year. I accept it’s not for everyone to always be calving but doesn’t bother me. A few other folks I know who calve all year round say the same. It usually means regular sales of cattle too
Ditto as long as the individual cow doesn’t slip outside of 12 months she’s good to go52 weeks
For me it would depend on why she lost the calf and what age she is, if a cow is in the latter half of her career, it's sometimes better just to let her go rather than keeping her for a free year just to have a couple more calves, I've found that weaning weight starts to reduce once a cow gets to around 10yoWhat i dont get is when a cow loses a calf folk say it has to be culled cos you cant carry passengers so they buy a bulling heifer to replace it which is a passenger till it calves.
Might as well put the original back to the bull unless it is faulty.
