Burning spreader advice

Looking at a second hand spreader. It has 2 vertical beaters but they are for bio solids. They are a bit further away from the bed and the auger flighting goes down to the bottom. Anyone used these type for spreading farm yard manure, did they work ok.

Used to run 2 with the beaters like that, we used to spread everything with them, they spread fym better than a standard vertical beater machine & chop it up better as well

Looks to have a built in deck so should be good, beaters don’t look to of done much but unsure of those flights half way up the augurs, whether someone has added them!!

Any problem with stones? when spreading fym did you find with the beaters been further away from the bed it would spread in surges as the beaters were not pulling it off the bed but waiting for a big lump to fall off?

Yes had one like it sludge spec with larger diameter beaters and twice as many slats in the floor chain ,would spread anything you put in it without a problem

No problems with stones at all, they just came out the back without any issues or damage. We had no surge problems, ours both had weigh cells fitted & we always ran them in ‘auto’ mode so didn’t have to worry about the bed speed we just let it sort itself out but as long as you’ve got the floor speed right you’ll be fine - bit like any spreader. Once you had one with those beaters & see what kind of job it does you won’t want to go near a normal vertical beater spreader
