Is your next thread going to be - is there any profit to be made selling snow to eskimos?Would there be any money to be made in buying ewes with twins in spring and selling before end of the year?
Bought at £180 and sold for £300 last week.Occasionally... lots of other people do it so outfits for feeding and breaking aren’t cheap! I often wonder how the fellas that buy my old mule ewes with twins make them pay at the end when they give me £60/life in late April!

Alright. But how often does that happen?? The last few years the ewe has been £60 too kill in the autumn after weaning. And the lambs have been anywhere from £68-£85 sold July-September 41-45kgs.Bought at £180 and sold for £300 last week.
That’s why I thought about cattle first but I haven’t got anywhere to keep them over the winterNot a huge upside for profitability, and more potential hassle (fly strike, footrot, etc) than grazing dairy heifers, in my view.
Someone else’s cattle with them doing everything an you just holding your hand out for a cheque is the easiest option!! But as for sheep being more hassle than cattle, wouldn’t life be boring an to easy if there was no hassle involved, everybody would be a livestock farmer if it was hassle free an the lambs were a £150 every year all year round!! It’s when the lambs are £60 an the cull ewes are £50 that the pretenders bail out the job!! I hope I’m wrong but if people think they won’t have the lamb job back to the £80-£90 mark by the middle of the year then I want some of the drugs there on!! But I am a glass half empty kind of guy so could be totally wrongNot a huge upside for profitability, and more potential hassle (fly strike, footrot, etc) than grazing dairy heifers, in my view.
£140-£180 depending on the quality of the ewes. What kind of price are grit ewes just now .I am going try and buy thirty five regular aged mules from a neighbour all scanned in lamb to a beltex , scanned 194% just wondered if anyone had an idea of rough price.
Thanks£140-£180 depending on the quality of the ewes.![]()
