We put in a new cattle grid with 4m3 of concrete- atleast 2m apron either side. It was only down 36hrs before milk tanker had to drive on it. Didn't have a choice but it looks OK the lorry didn't sink. But wouldn't have done it otherwise.

Laid a pad of C30 in the yard on Friday can a bulk load of feed @ 28 ton drive on it Monday lunchtime?
C30 not the best mix to start with,I would have thought you should be looking at a C45 for a yard ,It needs a lot longer than this before use 10 days would be soon for me with that weight

I wouldn't allow a lorry on it for a month. In the seventies we had a new dairy built. I was a spotty youth just returned from college and told them not to drive anything heavy on the concrete for a month. Two days later they had their lorry parked on it. Within ten years it was cracked and broken.

C30 is not a strong mix, and would keep off it for 3 weeks min, if you do put a wagon over it in 3 days, it will crack up, dont do it i would say,

local mill put a special mix down on a Saturday, it was expensive and quick setting about 4 years ago, artics were running on it on the monday, and its never been a bit of bother, but as said was expensive

Ok thanks all will change things to keep it off the new pad,sit for interest what spec would allow it? @Lincsman

I am not sure, but it has been used locally for a replacement access road that could not be closed for more than a weekend, I think its cost would only allow it for these situations. Your local readymix will tell you they have over 2000 specifications, which do you want!

There isn't one, there isn't a concrete firm out there that supply concrete that will guarantee concrete to be driven on prior to 28 days

All I can say is National grid have had to upgrade and extend an access over private land locally with concrete that had to take 44t trucks 48 hours later, and the site manager said it was expensive stuff but it is up to the job. It was very wet and lots of it was pumped so the whole steel reinforced road could be done in a day.

The readymix firm will recommend If you use a RC55 mix it'll reach the same strength as a RC30 sooner, but if you drive on it on it prior to 28 days then readymix firm will still not stand by the mix of it cracks, does that make sense
