Can i retrofit more PTO speeds on a JD 6115M?

I need to change the workload for the above mentioned tractor and it would need it to do a lot of spraying with a trailed sprayer. The thing is it has only one PTO speed, that is 540 @ around 1970 rpm. Is it possible/viable to add 540E speed so i wont have to run it so hard?

Be easier to stick a step up gearbox on the sprayer and run the tractor at reduced revs. f**k all load from a diaphragm pump.

That might work, where could i find one?
This style are used to drive up PTO powered hydraulic pumps, but you could adapt / rig it up. Available in various different ratios, probably 1.5:1 would be OK.

The alternative could be to get a hydro-motor and just drive your diaphragm pump using your tractor hydraulics.

...or just run your pump at lower PTO rpm like Marco suggests, unless your on the absolute output limit of your sprayers pump for some reason.

It's an amazone ug3000 special and i'm aplying 200l at 11kph. If i'm doing preems at a higher water rate, i have to go down a gear to keep the output.

Thanks for all your opinions, i will have to hook the tractor up to the sprayer first and see what it will be like.

Seems odd that you need 540 speed to get the output. My JD has a 200l per minute pump. I can always get enough output at 400 pto and spray 200l up to 15kph.

I guess it depends on the sprayer and how much flow goes towards agitation. in my case, the agitation is set close to the minimum but i still can't do 300l at 11kph. I'll know more when i hook up the sprayer to the tractor, but now i have to get on with harvesting.

Will the tractor be able to pull the sprayer at the required speed at reduced engine rpm’s?

the sprayer was pulled by a 82 hp tractor at 11kph with 3600l of water. All flat here.

Should be good then I only ask because I drove a MF 6265 years ago on a fert spreader and sprayer with front/rear tanks, it was hopeless in 540E power just faded away too quickly. Ended up in 540.
Was a Massey though, JD will be grand[emoji106][emoji41]
