After a lot of fuss, we did see some ever so slight push back to the proposed new rules at the RT consultation. It needs a lot more though - some major structural changes.

Maybe see farmer board reps voted on by the farmer members? Would that work?

One ever so slight change in the cereal sector would be a good start (remove the mandatory imposition on feed mills to be compelled to only purchase RT grain).

Oh, and a few more bits. Like why is RT 12 month sprayer testing, but SQC is 36 months.

And why add in the bit about H&S policy. H&S is important, no problem with that, but not the remit of Assured Food Standards.

...and their desire to police ELMS. Geez. Trying to position themselves as a mandatory and monopoly one stop shop "licence to farm". That showed their true colours of how they work, making it impossible for farmers to operate without paying RT.

They've constantly worked to corner farmers and cut off markets unless we all pay up. All backed by NFU and AHDB.

Free markets anyone?
Frightening but it’s not RT who are going out of their way to destroy us but the owners of RT. After all the digging by the team here,
lo and behold the non farming union turn out to be the owners.
The non farming union own and operate this so called assurance company under the guise of RT when it’s in actual fact owned by the non farming union. I run a farming company and I’m proud to associate myself with it.
Who would believe this state of affaires?

Just currently, they seem to be the only one fighting an ‘all Wales’ NVZ over here.👍

I dare say there will be plenty of cattle farmers in the SW, whether NFU members or freeloaders  , that are glad of the badger cull.
Every farmer of land in a cull area who signs up for the cull pays the fee for their land area whether they are nfu members or not (y)

Granted.

oh I forgot, some of those farmers who aren't nfu members don't even have cattle either.
Yup, I signed up, no cattle or Non Farming Union member. The line was they needed 95% or the cull in that area wouldnt happen, paid my money and not seen a peanut but then dont have a big problem with them

Of course, but even the most ardent NFU basher must surely concede that the cull would never have happened without them driving it through.

no one ever said they achieve nothing ! you would expect 21 million a year of paid staffto do “something”. maybe just a bit MORE is reasonable to expect? and certainly on issues like Red Tractor where there is absolutely no plausible justification for whats going on re cereals

Cancelled our DD a while ago but thought I better ring BUPA today to double check no issues as I allegedly get 20% off being an NFU member. Nice lady on the phone said no it'll make no difference to your policy. I ask if I'll have to pay more. No she says and even read the paragraph in her book stating that currently there is a policy of not raising fees if you leave the NFU. Then I ask will fees go up when the policy renews annually to account for the 20%. No she says although obviously they will increase for the normal reasons of getting older etc. Sort of sounds like there wasn't really a discount in the first place.......

We were BUPA so thought we'd join Nfu for the discount. Turned out we would be put on same conditions as new customers so all recent medical conditions wouldn't be covered. So penalised in effect instead of getting the discount. Another racket.
