With all the new regulations that will cost very substantially to comply with, including at least 10% trees, plus destocking or more land acquisition to keep existing stock and all the data trawling they demand, this here computer says NO! Fudge them with a prickly pine cone where the sun don’t shine.

Just remember has to be new not second hand ie that Opico swardlifter would not qualify as it's a 2021 machine ?

It’s a 2021 machine, but it is described as new. Gathering dust at the back of the dealer’s yard perhaps? Doesn’t matter really, as long as the invoice is for a ‘new’ item.

List price on a Browns Swardlifter is now £6600. That’s always been one of the cheapest models available, so the FETF standard figure does look a good way out on that item.

Where do they get the average prices from? China? I am struggling to find an air seeder of the required spec for less than £5k let alone near £3150. Same with assisted steering for £1911!

What did you go for? I haven’t got my head around 3 phase batteries.
We use a system that balances across the 3 phases which works well. The only alternative was to buy 3 batteries which is fine but not good if you have a large demand (grain store) on one phase as the other batteries can't help.

I'm looking at some of the animal health and welfare sheep items (auto weighing/drafting trailer, dosing gun, eid reader stick, lamb creep feeder.)

I get it's still expensive, even with the grant, but, realistically the items are the cheapest they'll ever be right now.

Going to have to get the stock numbers up so the price/head goes down. Finally, if the weighing/drafting trailer (Te Pari or Clipex) makes working the sheep more enjoyable and I can keep my old man working (ha!) then so much the better! Got to put a price on keeping your body in one piece!

Just some thoughts

Field drain cleaner: does anyone have any knowledge on the specification required. Have just ordered one through landy but their spec doesn’t match the criteria for grant. I’m no expert on this but struggling to understand why flow is so high but low pressure? It’s cleaning a drain what does it matter?? Thanks

It would be an interesting exercise to find out how much all of these grant applicable bits of kit have gone up since they were announced.
I payed 24k for my basic ,3m Simtech in the 22 scheme, I was told the same drill was 37k in 23, :(

Tbh I think they've got the specs wrong.

Field drain cleaners are high volume, low pressure. They're generally hydraulically driven up the drain, not self propelling head as a Dyno rod type drain cleaner would be.

Mine has 500m of pipe on it, no self propelling head would drag that along, hence the hydraulic drive.

Think mines 125l/min at 45 plus bar.
