Carb-free/Atkins/Keto diets - any advice

Eat less, do more.
If you dont want to be here again soon avoid any kind of "diet" and prioritise
"Making a lifelong change to my lifestyle"
Becoming healthy is like quitting cigs, booze, heroin. Once you're on the wagon you must hang on for dear life - everyday.
Good luck

I don't smoke, nor drink much. I walk 2 or 3 miles most days with the dogs, but I used to swim 2 or 3 miles a week prior to lockdown. I do need to get back in that pool.

I wouldn’t necessarily go on a specific type of diet, I don’t think it would last and you may be worse off on the long run. Just think carefully about what you eat throughout the day. At this time of year try a large bowl of soup and one piece of bread at lunch, porridge for breakfast, If you eat puddings try cutting them out. Fruit at coffee/tea breaks instead of cake/biscuits Carbs yes try to just have a bit less. It’s not easy though as you will feel hungry. Get a bike….

You will never put exercise a bad diet
Get healthy in the fridge and get fit in the gym
Replace bread with meat, it’s sounds crazy to us brits that are brought up on bread with everything!
The way I changed was to accept been hungry, it’s just an inconvenient feeling/emotion, buy a good water flask and take it with you, it helps with the hunger pangs
Just cook plain meat and eat it cold through the day, you can eat as much of it as you like!

Soup and bread will just make you very hungry within 2-3 hours
Your stomach gets used to your diet and you crave what your used to eating, it takes a while to change that

I am now at my heaviest ever, and need to lose some. I have had a few friends recommend these carb free diets. Any Tips?
If you’re determined to go carb free this may be of interest.
My best mate runs a tree surgery business with his wife, she is a multiple European and world womens tree climbing champion and has been on an animal products only diet for a few years, she’s nearly 40. Absolutely no carbs, veg or fruit, just milk, cheese, eggs, meat etc. including offal. They buy quite a bit of lamb and beef from us as it’s slow grown, grass fed and they think this helps. She says she’s never felt fitter or stronger.
Personally I think it’s too extreme and wouldn’t do it myself, but it works for her.

Stop hand to mouth after 7 pm. Always have proper breakfast first thing to start metabolism (porridge👍). Drop as much of the crap as you can.
Patience and persistence are required 🙂

I have been using the 5:2 diet and trying to cut down a bit on the Carbs and chocolate (and seed or veggie oils), the important thing is not BMI but waist measurement, for a man it needs to be under 37" and if you look round the mart, there aren't many who would qualify!

I think the 5 and 2 diet works well for many people because it is simple. Mind you don't go overboard compensating on the days you can eat though. I'd also suggest the 5 and 2 is a lot healthier way to lose weight than fad diets (and probably cheaper).

@snarling bee eat better, cut the rubbish out and go back to your swimming. Exercise you enjoy is the most important thing. I bought a bike and really enjoy it. I’m doing about 2000 miles a year. Lost about 15kg, Mrs Bg has always had us on a fairly healthy diet. Beer and sweet things are my biggest downfall so need to get my miles up to remove Christmas
