Case 4230 revs and max speed

Hi all I got a 94 case 4230 and it’s hellish load in cab , just checking my revs and top speed

revs go to 3440 and my max speed is 21.4mph is this correct when towing unloaded grain trailer is get 18.4mph

3440 sounds a lot of revs for an agricultural tractor... Have you asked your dealer what the factory setting is??

2440 would be more like it. From what I remember they weren’t quiet. tractors

On xl spec the Dash is programmable for forward speed and by the sound of it revs too. You had to put in the correct tyre size ratio. Miss spent harvest 20yrs ago

Sounds like the 15.4mph box as said it's reving 1000 rpm too much. We had a 785 that did that, it didn't end well Conrod went through the side of it just after we sold it.

There was 3 gearboxes from memory
15.4mph @ 2500rpm
18.4 mph @ 2500
24.6mph @ 2500rpm but only on XLs I think

Yeah 2500 rph sounds right to me, there is a screw to stop the throttle and other ideas How to stop the over revs

Most shuttle ones had the low top speed , as previous poster said 15.4 mph , should rev to 2500 RPM

One would think that the operators manual would contain the engine data.. ie, high and low idle etc..

Are you sure of speed , quite a few variations offered , should be several speed charts in manual , depends on what is fitted , most with shuttle we’re slow speed

Yeah there’s this one shows 20mph

Just because your Speedo says a speed it doesn’t mean you’re achieving it! Engine rpm would be essential to get right before damaging engine then time 100m run to establish actual speed.

No, you're wrong there. Look at the 'Governed engine speed without load' 2567 - 2663
The rated speed, is where it is tested for power. Throttle set to max, dynamometer load imposed until the revs drop to 2400 and then read off the horsepower..
