Hi to you all from a newbie !
I have a 1989 case 844xl and it's always struggled to start , I prime the fuel pump and then hold the key onto the spring position for 30 seconds at a time and I do this three times but I feel that's too much possibly ?
I have a new battery and she spins over ok do you have any ideas as if this is right please ?
There's no glow plug light on the dash should there be?
Many thanks

We have a 885 and a 844, turn the key on the 885 and she’ll fire straight up even on a frosty morning, the 844 on over hand takes bit of cranking. For heater plug just turn key 1/4 way no lights on dash. If you needing to prime fuel could it be running back to tank, any cracks holes in fuel pipe? Love the 844 tho! It’s feels completely different beast to the 855!

According to my operators manual

Just reading the operators manual and there's an excess fuel position on the engine stop control that I didn't know about. Bit embarrassing since we've had our 844 for over 20 years now.

Wev couple o cold hard starters. We get 2 sheets newspaper roll them up dip first inch in diesel take out air filter light paper and hold it at air intake and they just fire straight up. Laugh or not but it works well

If you want a starter try @ACEngineering
Had a quick look at the Mahle catalogue and it looks like an MS 18 is the right one but whoever you buy it off can check.

Thank you and I read yesterday that pulling the engine kill till you felt like a notch would add fuel !

I'm sending a Alternator out with TNT tomorrow, supposed to get delivered Tuesday? with a bit of luck:unsure: no trouble to send you a starter as well if you want.

If you look carefully at the stop handle on the dash the sticker on the dash shows the that it is also has an excess fuel position had one for ten years an a Ih mechanic show me that we bypassed the heater circuit and just rd fitted a on off switch
