Case Puma CVX noise vibration

Evening,

Just received a new to me 2013 puma 160 cvx a few days ago, did it’s first out of road today and I noticed that when cruising flat out there’s an intermittent vibration through the cab floor, and there’s a noise like a hydraulic pump or something as if in pulling the spool lever.
Anyone know what this could be or if it’s normal? Tractor seems to behave perfectly..when the noise/vibration comes through the engine note doesn’t change or anything like that.
Any help greatly appreciated as I’m worried I’ve bought a pup..
TIA

Check the propshaft bearings, these are very common to fail esp on the new hollands t7's. Its not very forgiving when they do finally pack up and let go

Check the prop shaft bearings as del boy said, they'll wreck the housing and sump if you don't catch them quick.

Check the cab mount bolts, our 2012 sheared the ones on the right that bolt to the gearbox, and the top of exhaust hitting the mirror arm and grab handle made noises like that. Stronger bolts and it hasn't happened again.

From memory there is a hydraulic pipe running slow the cab front to back which is metal rather than rubber and it causes a noise. Certainly in my newer model 165CVX I had that issue and it was a recall and now perfect.

Cheers for the replies, will check the prop bearings, are they hard to get at to have a look?
The hydraulic pipe sounds like it could be what I’m hearing, as it definitely seems to be a surging noise rather than a bearing noise, surely the prop bearings would be making constant noise if they were on there way out?

If you look under the engine where the sump plugs are, you'll see the bearing, if there's play it'll move with a lever. The pipe, or cab mounts will come and go as the cab suspension moves. The prop will be a constant rattle when driving.

Was back on the road again this morning with the roof hatch open, when the vibration happens the noise almost sounded as if it was coming from under the bonnet, but whether that’s just because of the roof being open I don’t know

Does the vibration noise happen when steering the tractor quickly for instance when turning at the end of a bout to re enter work. I’m sure it will be the pipe under the cab which is a simple fix by your Case IH dealership

No haven’t heard any other time than when on the road

So had a look at the prop tonight, how much movement is too much? There wasn’t much room to see but as far as I can tell there’s a little play in the uj’s and the shaft out the box does move up and down a little with a lever too, without much pressure. Do they need changing ASAP before they take something else with them?
Cheers

Get it replaced. Ours went on a t7200 and we ended up needing the whole lot, shaft, uj bearing carrier, was a big job, there was no warning when ours went

Dealer job? Or is it fairly simple to drop the axle down and get to them?
We did use a dealer mechanic but we done it on site. We had to take the front suspension pins out at the bottom and these were very tight, other than that it wasnt too bad a job. O think the uj is on a short shaft and have to buy it as one but i could be wrong.

Spoke to the dealer who sold it to me this morning they’re gonna pay for parts and I’ll change them myself so not too bad a result for a second hand tractor, cheers for all your help.
On the subject of the front axle, will fitting a bigger accumulator make much difference to the suspension as its god awful at the moment..

Ah well done that is a very good outcome, fair play to your dealer standing by you.
As for the accumulators they are crap on the short wheel base models. does it float at all? Take it off and if its full of oil its goosed. Ive fitted bigger ones and also fitted an extra and the one with 2 on set at different pressures is the best. New holland do a kit to fit on the rear axle to add a 2nd one but its expensive and so easy to do yourself. Any decent hydraulic place will source you some accumalators some pipe to route it to the back and some t fittings to join the 2 together.

Yep accumulator is full of oil, definitely knackered, I’ll get a pair sorted and piped up!
Cheers for all your help
They dont last long, all of ours have been done by 3000 hrs.
If you've got front linkage and carry a weight its also worth loosing some pressure from the accumulator, this helps the front linkage float aswell. Doing this and adding an extra accumulator makes a big difference to the ride

So it’s as easy as putting a T in the pipe and running a lengthy to the back axle and bolting another on?
What pressures would you recommend in them?

Yeah a pipe from where the original accumulator is to the rear left back wheel. You'll need to make a plate up to hold the 2 accumalators, put 1 each side of the trumpet housing and t them together.
Have you a short or long wheel base?
Ours are all short. The one i think is set at 10bar and the other was at 50bar but ive loosed a bit out of the 50 bar as it still a bit hard. The other tractor i put a 2 ltr pot on it and i think is 35 bar and that works ok. Theres some old threads on here of what people set them at.

Spot on, both 1ltr pots on the double? Yeah mines a short wheelbase, cab suspension does a fair job but having the axle float properly would transform it.
Shame they didn’t put more thought into it as apart from that I think mine is a cracking tractor, pulls like a train, cvx is a joy to use
