I heard these boxes were pretty bulletproof, should see 7000+ hours without worrying about £5k bills surely??
A gearbox that does 7000 hours without needin split isnt somethin to brag about. Know of jd like 6930/7530 with over 20000 hours on and not needin a gearbox rebuild and stil doin front line work with big tankers and trailers literally everyday

Well yes that is totally true. However I was purely basing my comment on the fact everyone says a fendt vario needs changing around 10k hours..

Correct me if I'm wrong but surely the NH sidewinder and you pull the stick 'back' it just slows the tractor to eventually a stop. Then if you select reverse and want to speed up you still have to push the stick forward? Or is it like a Massey powershift design and pull back to go faster in reverse?

Sounds like the vario deutz we had on demo a few years back, in reverse push forward to speed up , pull back to slow down . How the fek is that logical, very nearly smashed the back window on it as I’m used to it the opposite way round on the fendt.

My pickup is terrible,, I press the accelerator down to go faster forward,,,, Hard to comprehend is that to go faster in reverse I still have to press the accelerator down, so hard to work out [emoji849]
Get over yourselves. NO probs with Case

But it’s the stick/joystick in the tractor not the accelerator, doesn’t bother me as I don’t own a case

Hills I leave it in cruise and if it’s revving too much I just turn the droop down a bit.

I knocked it out of cruise then use the exhaust brake,

I only ever use pedal mode round the yard wen hitching up to stuff

Down hill is the one I really struggle with, I'm usually in pedal mode and then exhaust brake, pull back on the stick to load the engine however controlling this and stopping the engine from over reving is the hard part.

Can you adjust the droop as above to stop the overrevving? I’ve got all this to learn too!:ROFLMAO:

Only thing to do is back off sooner and be going slower at the top of the hill.

to be fair I don’t do a lot with heavy loads going downhill as farmyard is at top of a hill so all loaded trailers come up

Put over 6000hrs on a CVX transmission and never thought of it as an issue and never had one. The Case system makes more sense to me as pull the lever right back and its dead stop, all the way forward is the top speed you've set for whichever range you're in and then anything in between is anything in between!

You can push it forward and pull it back with your finger and thumb and operate a spool with another, haven't got all the springing backwards and forwards nonsense and wondering when its gonna go back to 0.

If In pedal mode on a case, pulling back on stick doesn't do anything.
That's when it's so easy to swap between stick and pedal modes.
Anti jacknife mode is handy on steep downhill runs.
Not tried it on a NH, but if you hold the forward button on a case when going downhill, it locks the transmission speed, lets you use brakes without the transmission trying to slow down which over revs the engine.
I'm not explaing it very well, but it's quite easy once get used to it.
Some versions of software slow transmission when using exhaust brake, that was prone to causing transmission/ engine over speed.
Our current version just put exhaust brake on, find it much better.

I think the case variants look weird with nothing behind the steering wheel just a lump of plastic. The new Holland dash could do with updating to a screen admittedly but as above, all the info is on the 10” screen on the armrest. Hardly look at the dashboard ever.
The "plastic lump" doubles as a fridge keeping your soda and water cool (even cold) all day.

Each to their own i guess, we had a T6.165 to replace our Case when it was waiting for parts at dealers. Hated the joystick, hated the 90's dash and the sidewinder armrest.

Never knew about the anti jacknife thing. Gonna have to try this. Coming down a greasy hill with forage wagon and you really want the brakes dragging on the wagon to hold you straight, this can be done on most tractors by feathering the brakes on and off to get pressure in the trailer brake. On puma cvx you touch the brake pedal and transmission braking is so fierce it will break traction and you have the wagon pushing you down the hill

Only driven the NH version, but absolutely love it! It's easily one of the most operator friendly varios on the market, so simple to jump on and drive.
As for the anti jackknife system, once you've used it, it's fantastic - if you hold down the direction button, on the joystick, as you're moving it'll bring up two " squiggly lines " on the screen, continue to hold the button and press the brake pedal and the lines turn green to show the anti jackknife system is activated, and only the trailer is braking so it won't be pushing the tractor down the hill.
Think the latest update the tractors now have intelligent braking where you pull back on the stick and as you do so the tractor applies the trailer brakes?
