The legal position with regard to Scottish Banknotes is as follows:

Scottish Banknotes are legal currency – i.e. they are approved by the UK Parliament. However, Scottish Bank notes are not Legal Tender, not even in Scotland. In fact, no banknote whatsoever (including Bank of England notes!) qualifies for the term 'legal tender' north of the border and the Scottish economy seems to manage without that legal protection.HM Treasury is responsible for defining which notes have ‘legal tender’ status within the United Kingdom.

But my pint would have gone flat by the time I'd explained all that.

So by that logic the forgeries would not not have the queens head on them.

We're talking many years ago, and had been warned by the bank there were quite a lot of dud notes being passed around.

Fact is even your own people don't always seem to like them

You know what I mean.says it all in the first line of your quote'legal currency'.

Mind I have seen Scottish folk reject English notes.jusy because they say England on them

If a business only takes card, I walk out. Regardless how I'm paying.
I find Most smaller businesses would rather be paid in cash nowadays,
We should have the choice in all businesses how to pay. Cash is still king I find.

My son has been saving £1 and £2 coins for a while, baged them all up properly in cash bags and i took them to the bank today (TSB).Couldn't pay them directly into his account, they had to change them for note's first and told me to pay them in via ATM, couldn't do that as i didn't have the pin to go with his card so they had to open a counter again and recount the notes then put them back in the same draw they had only taken them out off 5 minutes earlier.
