A and B series the most reliable. C series ok. Stay away from D series and they had engine issues to do with the emissions I think. Other than that decent buses but heavy on fuel as you’d expect for out and out power. The JD rt seems to tread lighter though and you get a cvt gearbox on them which makes Cats powershift very cumbersome. Ride on the road isn’t great from either but JD have the edge.

To be honest for a combi drill I’d be looking for a 20 series JD crawler as their power to weight ratio is spot on for that job and they are light in comparison. I drove a 8520t and 4m folding kuhn with 2t front tank and it was a great outfit for late drilling after roots.

how does that front bin affect weight distribution & handling ?
serious question, because it is very common here to run front liquid tanks of 1000 - 2000 l capacity, as well as airseeder bins of up to 2 t on the front of FWA tractors in row crop situations. JD definitely the most common tractor & the rubber tracked versions were quite popular . ..

BUT - JD dealers here all said NOT to stick anything out in front of the front idler as it would disrupt weight distribution too much & negate any benefits of having a tracked machine . . .

ALL of the twin track tractors you see here with added liquid tanks or air seeder bins have them mounted on the sides ( which obviously makes them wider & presents a problem if need to travel on the road ), which keeps the weight central

genuinely interested as I was going to buy a JD t , but I wanted to run a 2 tonne airseeder bin on the front & all the advice was not to put weight out there
Very common to run same airseeder bin out the front on the JD 8 series wheeled tractors though . . .

I would have thought the weight distribution would be messed up On a track machine with any heavy mounted kit. When raised all the weight is on the rear drive wheels, rather than spread along the track. Probably a higher point loading on the soil than duals would be. Obviously they are ideal with implement lowered or on drawbar work

i could be mistaken but does the jd cvt not suffer some catastrophic failure in tracked machines, im sure some one enlightened us before on this issue if you search.

could be wrong think its powershift
great videos off that dude!

Ive no experience but on the youtube channel of millennial farmer he demos a challenger in place of the equivalent jd tracked machine, one of his biggest comment was how comfortable it was vs the jd!

That’s one of the original series, suffered from poor ride and reliability problems with them being basically an 8000 wheeled tractor with tracks.
The newer RT’s a supposed to be better and can come with a CVT.
