Do the garlic licks work?

I agree Spot On is no use. I use the garlic tubs and despite my scepticism, they really do work. I think I will try try the garlic granules also.

Ear tags - in some countries you can get tags with insecticide/repellent embedded.

Garlic doesn't work.

Switch and Spot On do work if you are mindful of what they do - they kill flies. They are not a repellent.

Stockholm Tar is great but needs regular top ups.

If not going to be eating or milking it then Crovect also works well. Not licensed in cattle, but is a true repellant.

Lucky we don't suffer with flies, but surely if people want a spray, then a sheep dip mixed up into a knapsack sprayer will do the job, enough would be absorbed in hair/skin around udder to keep flies away, calf would suckle fine, saw Stockholm tar needs regular top ups well surely sheep dip would give a couple of months cover on cows?

Flectron fly tags, kills the flies reduces the population , not just moving it away

Ficam w mixed with sugar and sprayed on the walls is superb at dropping fly numbers drastically, don't think there's anything better. Not a repellent though.

Avon skin so soft spray is a very good fly repellent.

The original dry oil spray. Works on horses, and way cheaper than fly spray!
