Cattle dropping weight

I Let out 30 saler bullocks 2 months ago and ever since they have been dropping weight sides going in and rips very slightly visible I know cattle are set back for around 3 weeks after coming out of winter housing but I’m a bit concerned, grass quality is good, maybe a bit on the strong side but that should hold it in them. There grazing alright and weather is dry enough the only thing I could put it to would be stomach worms so they will be given ivermectin tomorrow but I would still doubt it would have that effect another would be a copper deficiency which does have symptoms shown. Any ideas?

Quite likely worms, they maintain immunity by exposure and if that stops, then immunity drops away with time.
Lungworm especially, but you'd notice them coughing more, if it were.

thanks for the help ,ya I’d say it’s worms,I’ll give ivermectin tomorrow and do em for fluke as well it will do no harm the reason I’d think it might be copper is there coats turned slightly brown even though they are black salers they’ll be going back on mineral licks now

Might be worth sending a dung sample to the vet and getting some blood samples taken when they're in. An expense, yes, but cheaper than 30 cattle going backwards on spring grass again next year.

IF they were tight and fit with slick coats when then went out 2 mths ago its no wonder they have sunk . If they have fluke or worms there arses will be lapsed in sh#t and they will be coughing imo.

Do they have lick blocks out that contain any copper to help them??

If it is serious young rich grass maybe offering some barley straw for them to pick at might help slow the process down in there Rumen and solid up there Dung which will help them take what they need out the grass instead of sh****ing it out the back end
