If they had a truly free vote in parliament, the mp’s would vote overwhelmingly to ditch Brexit. There are certainly 500 who do not believe it is truly a good idea. The promoters of Brexit have always been the far right and left including Mr Corbyn.
However they all know that wven without the whip, many MP’s would be under extreme pressure particularly those n the labour sides of being deselected if they do not do the lefts bidding.
Currently even with a strong Brexit pressure from the hard line Tories, their constituency party will be very loathe to dump a sitting MP. A few would go but I suspect 90%+ would survive .
Interesting rumours running round this morning, May is talking of an election this November!

She left herself in this invidious position because she probably didn’t believe in a hard Brexit and thought the EU would compromise. The Tories are spilt over this issue and the Labour Party deep down are too even if it is not shown on the surface. The only true way to find out is for a free vote. (No whips) in Parliament. Each MP to vote as they or their constituents dictate

A free vote of Remainer MPs overturning the general public who already have given their democratic instructions .. it would be the end of the parliamentry system. Which would be great for democracy but bad for the Elite ..

But MP’s are elected to run the government in the best interest of the country. They are elected by individual voters in their constituencies. If those voters have elected MP’s who truly believe remain is the best for the country, what have we , the electorate, to complain about.
There are many issues, which if put to the vote would change the course of the country. A majority would often think individually these votes would be good, such as capital punishment for a start.
Then we should stop mass immigration, speed limits, The Guardian

You're just arguing for the status quo .. that's not going to happen IMHO. We've all seen how many people are fed up and are willing to do something about it.

All the majority need is a clear direction.

Theres a great deal happening presently behind the scenes in the worlds corridors of power, we truly are entering the unchartered waters that Gordon Brown spoke of a few years back...………...I suspect many (Formerly) powerful individuals are having sleepless nights as their plans are being blown up in smoke.

And juncker clutching at straws today. He's been reduced to scaring people about pet travel... and planes mid way over Europe not being allowed to land. I guess they'd let them come down in a metropolitan area instead. Mmmm. That'd be good press.

"There are lots of people in Europe who just want people and animals to cross borders but I think we’re just going to have four-day quarantine and if you want to go to Brittany for eight days for vacation then maybe you need to leave the dog or the cat at home but maybe you’ll just stay home altogether.”

He added: ‘“What’s going to happen to air traffic in Europe? If everything goes wrong British planes will not be able to land on the European continent; people don’t know that. Somebody should’ve told them that beforehand.”

May agrees curbs on trade to break Brexit deadlock
Britain prepared to stay in customs union until deal struck over Irish border

This is the headline in todays edition of The Times. I am not up on these matters. But I had a read through the commentary and a glance at the readers comments where there was much outrage from Leavers.

From what I can make of it the proposal would mean UK not really leaving the Customs Union? Not be able to strike trade deals. And that would I presume be good for UK agriculture as keep out the US chicken? And ensure the sheep meat carries on going to france?

What he says is correct. It's a technical aspect, you have to have a valid EU operating licence, air safety certification and that won't be the case with a no deal Brexit. It could also mean that UK carries can't fly to many non EU counties like the USA as well, as this is part of an EU - US agreement on these aspects.

So we apply for an EU operating licence and air safety certification. From my interpretation of the situation a deal will either be struck in November or it will be no deal, if it is no deal then we have 4 months to get the relevant paperwork in place. Seeing as we already have the licence and certificate it shouldn't be too big a problem to sort out. Where there is a will there is a way.
Next.

Unfortunately to comply, the carrier has to be headquartered in a EU country with majority shareholding in said country. Not something that can be done overnight without some give from the EU.

i am sure there will be many many eu citizens rejoicing in the lack of those rabble rousing brits,
not disembarking from their planes and despoiling their beauty spots:whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle:
and of course the greens will be celebrating the sudden drop in greenhouse gas production,

Dont forget eu planes will face massive detours as they wont be able to use our airspace to get to the states nor land here and im sure the spanish, italian et al tourist resorts will be really happy having no customers, i know he wont care up in his ivory tower though

It's EU scaremongering again- they are trying to throw everything at the UK in a last ditch attempt to force us to remain. Juncker is about to rip out his kitchen sink and chuck it at us too.

I think it would be UK carriers that would have the problem. Irish airspace covers the North Atlantic from just south of Iceland to join up with Portuguese air space in the south. However, I don't think it will happen in reality.

Spend a little time watching this and most EU flights inbound and outbound from USA to Schipol / Frankfurt fly over Lincolnshire. Have to detour a bit I suppose. But I assume this is all hand bags at dawn stuff - like watching two Premier League footballers square up!

I think these things are gathered as barging assets by either side. Some will be bargained away others will be sold, for example for the use of EU air space, the EU may charge half a billion a year or zero tariffs on EU foods going into the UK.
