The turbo on my Ares 696 has started to leak oil as it is a john deere engine could i put a turbo from the equivalent john deere on it and if so which is the equivalent tractor

Look on the engine serial number plate. It will have the serial number and the engine build code.
Also, the JD part number may be on the turbocharger itself..

all i know is its a industrial engine not tractor dont know if that makes it difference

Get a price from a independent turbo agent they’ll be much cheaper than main dealer

I was just hoping to get a replacement quick off the shelf rather than getting it repaired or hunting for a like for like replacement. The turbo is made in Czechoslovakia. Anyway i will have to explore all the options

Just out of curiosity,,, where is the oil leaking from?? If an intercooler hose has split, that can make them drip oil..
