Hi all. Just wondering if somebody has any information on a claas 8700? We’re they made in factory or just a mower added to a scraped forager?

I take it you mean the ecut 8700?
They where made by wittrock in germany, a big claas dealer. Made out of used jaguars (as far ad I know) with all chopping gear removed and a fair bit of length added for balance.

I think a 8700 was a new unit purpose built for reverse drive mowers. Probably based on a standard forager but without any chopping components. I saw a used one once and from memory it had a hyd or shaft driven fan to clean the radiator screen rather than using the crop accelerator . A great machine I think and I saw one advertised somewhere recently

The mowing unit could be fitted to any claas chopper of that age. Several contractors in nz had an 850 or 870 that had done it’s time as a forager and then they remove the drum entirely and mount the mowing unit on it.
It did need a stack of wafer weights put on the rear to balance it.

The mowing unit is sadly no longer in production.
