Claas the good the bad and the ugly.

Claas combines appear to be considered the dogs bits.
But not their tractors , why not .
Is it still a hang up from when they were a Renault.
Most would consider a fendt tractor superior to a claas tractor , but with combines, most seem to think claas top dog .

I have seven Claas and two Renaults. I have three Axos with over 10,000 hours a Renault 696 with 15000 hours and a Renault 103-54 with more than that. Not trouble free but no major disasters.
103-54 is a peach,4 cyl engine which will pull a house over,MWM.

We had a 103-52 at one point and I loved it,just a bit basic in the gearbox department.(y)

I’ve had a Claas Arion 530 for 9 months and I absolutely love it. Smoothest ride of any tractor I’ve owned it’s 50k with cab and axles suspension with a Claas (Mx) loader which is so easy to take on and off. The engine was a bit tight and sluggish initially but now it’s getting some hours on it after some hard work it’s improved a lot. I’ve previously had Claas tractors with no major issues and then had a few Case which I expected to be good but were not so good. Synchros went in a Puma at 1500 hrs and compensator valves on hydraulic pumps CNH built in design fault cash cow.

It's strange, combines, shelf propelled silage harvesters, rakes , all get a good name, but tractors and maybe balers don't, a claas round baler was a great machine years ago but not so much now. Things change, but the tractors look good these days.

Claas combines had a name for reliability, not so much now.
And they pump you properly at the spares counter

Have they replaced the Deere engine for Cummins yet, that was a stalling point for a lot of people. A friend had one and it was OK but a lot of niggly electrical problems with sensors etc.

Two Claas in the yard one an Atos basically a Same Explorer in Claas colours and a Nexos which is a orchard tractor which has been a nightmare, massively disappointing . Major problems and poor product support .

With the exception of a Fastrac, they're possibly the most comfortable tractor on the market, the suspension is excellent in them. However they do give problems, as do all brands, but can't see why they're talked about the way they are.
Think the main off put for most people around here is the Deere engine in the Arions and that probably says more about John Deere than Claas. Think an Arion with an FPT/Cummins/Perkins etc engine would be a great seller here.
