Had 9 or 10 over last 15years. Run 3 currently and a case. Case has been more problems and not as nice to drive. 1 friday machine out of the lot which was a nightmare. All the others so far have been extremely reliable. Agree about the price getting expensive but they are great tractors imo.

the dealer makes it for us small independant buis they make a deal work for you look after you and value your trade. if we had to deal with the nearer arogant claas owned set up we would have to look at another brand. but what i dont know!
I actually use the Claas owned dealer and they are actually good to deal with the only thing I would say is they are keen to be paid but considering I am in Kenya and they are in Lincolnshire they are taking a lot on trust. Another thing about Claas is they are truly a family business and if you say something to them it does make it back to the factory. They may ignore it but they will listen.

Yes I'd agree with Case more problematic and Case wont stand by you when things are just out of their ambiguous warranty.

630 Arion. From using the second spool on a hydraulic trailer tailgate without isolating the pitch up extending ram.

had a new Pto Shaft drive gear and bearing housing from a slurry stirrer UJ breaking and pushing it all backwards breaking the casting inside the tractor and a new crossshaft, top of the arms from a mounted 320 mower (thought a 140hp tractor would be plenty) sheared in half.

None of which has been overly handy. All between 4-5000 hours.
All those problems/ brakages would have been the same if it was a similar size Massey with a Dromone pick up hitch...

The Nexos was definitely a Friday afternoon special, front grill rusted , dealer actually took photos of my other tractors which were older and no rust [another make]
Couldn't get a gear tractor had to be split at less than 60 hours dealer had it for about 4 weeks, two clutch packs fitted . Tractor was dumped back in my yard on a Friday afternoon and they couldn't get out of the yard quick enough. When I went to use the tractor I found out why, it still wasn't right the clutch had two bite points , forward high split and reverse a low bite point and low split forward a higher bite point .
Rang the the dealer to complain and he told me not to use the low split !! You couldn't write it.
Tractor was returned to the dealer they had it about six weeks this time and a hydraulic bank was replaced apparently not drilled or bored right, previous time was two clutch packs.

Has since fired up fault codes and locks itself in four wheel drive, if you stop the tractor and restart it it releases the four wheel drive. Was told to unplug a switch and reconnect it, tractor hasn't been used since but do not expect that fix to work more than likely back to the dealer. Oh joy !!
No longer any confidence in the tractor 170 hours on it.

I had a Fendt 209 P basically an orchard tractor with no cab. Was happy with it and did a deal for a second one the wording on the sales agreement was "same spec as last one" and handed over a deposit of five thousand pounds. Around five months passed then I was told my tractor had arrived so I went to the dealer to inspect it.
It was the wrong tractor!Someone had made a mistake.
The nightmare had now begun . The tractor had no front linkage, no front pto, the wrong size tyres and rims, this also meant the front axle was narrower and the front mudguards were smaller, and much later on I found out it had the standard hydraulic pump and not the uprated pump and a spool valve less. Apart from that it was perfect!!
Nobody wanted to know, the dealer then phoned me to tell me it had been decided to fit parts to the tractor to bring it up to the spec. Months later I was told the tractor was ready, what a shambles not even genuine rims were fitted and a bad paintjob. Several weeks later phoned the area representative to tell him I was refusing to accept the tractor and wanted my deposit back.
It took practically two years to get my money back, we served papers on them for the County Court In the meantime the dealer served papers to take me to the High Court but they didn't proceed when we lodged papers to defend. With less than a week to go they gave in and refunded my deposit and paid my legal bill. They had my money nearly three years.
Only I got the serial number of the tractor, photographed it and got a printout of the specs of the two tractors when I was on holidays I possibly would never have got my money back. The area representative refused to give me the printouts or arrange a meeting for me and Senior Fendt staff at Discover Agro to discuss the situation.
That has been my experience of Fendt but I am left with one in the yard and no backup.

The Nexos is built by a section of Carraro in Italy John Deere and Massey sell versions of it as well. Their quality control must be poor or non existent but Claas sold it so they are responsible . The warranty bill against it must be serious.

I have an Atos which is a Same Explorer which has done ok just a diff lock switch under warranty but it has the heavy duty back axle more weight traction and three splits not two.

Ironically I seem to have bad luck with tractors but cars skid steers or handlers no problems.

You could probably do a thread like this on mf aswell, but good tractors but balers etc not so popular wait would claas rather have?, probably what they have now, tractors knot so popular but combines, foragers, rakes, mowers popular.

I have a 530 and love it so far. Trying to make sure it gets its share of heavy work to help run it in well. Is there anything I should be watching out for? I presume the Dpf shouldn’t be an issue on a tractor doing some hard pulling periodically .
Not really our 530 is not ad blue. We got it second hand with 1200 on the clock it's a 65 plate. We have had no problems so far. It's much smoother than the 510 it replaced that was like driving a kangaroo.

Had an 850 cvt on demo this spring , put jd auto power in it ,it would of stayed , did not like their cvt box ,have a 63/650 coming to try as , claas dealer we use is small family firm and service is superb , thta is the main driver of trying one ,
Two new 650 cebis here at drivers request and I would say they are very nice tractors and previous ones did well no problems to mention the deere engines would be the poorest part but fpt engines on bigger and funnily enough the smaller ones too

I think most tractors will wreck an extending hitch if you don’t shut the tap. I did similar with a jd hitch.. the only parts on my old fendts that have not broken are the crossshafts, they are massive one piece units. But never talked about..

I’ve had a Claas Arion 530 for 9 months and I absolutely love it. Smoothest ride of any tractor I’ve owned it’s 50k with cab and axles suspension with a Claas (Mx) loader which is so easy to take on and off. The engine was a bit tight and sluggish initially but now it’s getting some hours on it after some hard work it’s improved a lot. I’ve previously had Claas tractors with no major issues and then had a few Case which I expected to be good but were not so good. Synchros went in a Puma at 1500 hrs and compensator valves on hydraulic pumps CNH built in design fault cash cow.View attachment 880970
Looks smart and compact. I'm thinking of looking at a 550 with a loader, how do you find visibility round the bonnet? they look to have good slope but then they are a wide bonnet. How is it for power if it 50k? I tried a 650 and it felt bit sluggish compared to my mf 6616 but that's only 40k.

To answer your questions, visibility for loader work is okish and no different to the Case Maxxum I had previously. Power wise it’s a bit of a mixed bag it was a bit sluggish initially but the more hours on the clock the better it gets I feel it has potential to be a true pocket rocket if the emissions garbage was dealt with once out of its 3 year warranty by someone like the derv doctor. The only place it still feels a bit sluggish now is going up steeper hills on the road but it does do 56k so not fair to compare with a 40k. On field work it’s good and will do everything my Puma 150 will do. It has good torque reserves for pto work I’ve had it on the baler a few times with the knives in chopping and revs only drop about 20rpm when the bale is fully formed. The icing on the cake for me is the comfort of the cab and ride on the road our roads in west wales are terrible in places and you can fly along without being rocked all over the place. If you do go for one make sure it has a Grammer seat and not the Sears which has very little foam padding and is highly uncomfortable I had to have mine swapped and Riverlea salesman has just told me another person has told him the same thing.
