I would be wary of any machine made using an assortment of other branded parts.

Trouble with Claas around here is that they are rare, which I assume has a knock-on impact on used values. A JD or Fendt seems to be the popular marque around here.
Wouldn't that mean that you would be wary of basically any tractor that isn't.. uuh.. Valtra?
John Deere uses ZF transmission and CNH uses Fiat engines, Fendt has Deutz engines and while Deutz-Fahr naturally uses their own engines they instead use ZF transmissions...

Deere have their own transmissions apart from the CVT, which is a ZF unit, or units, because they use various models according to the power output of the engine in front.
CNH use FPT [Fiat/Iveco] power units because CNH are part of Fiat. So in effect, CNH use their own engines. As do most AGCO models apart from the bigger Fendt, which mainly use Deutz engines currently apart from the very big ones and the very small ones. Yes Deutz, McCormick and Kubota use ZF transmissions, rear axles and hydraulics ['transaxles'] on mid range models to their larger models. Some smaller Claas and Deutz tractors are made by Same in Italy with their 'Powerfarmer' engines sourced from the SDF factory in India.
Class use either Same, DPS [Deere Power Systems], or FPT [Fiat Power Train] engines. They use mainly GIMA transmissions from the AGCO factory complex at Beauvais, France. Some MF and Valtra transmissions come from the Fendt factory and some bigger Valtra are assembled at Beauvais. Class tractors are made in France [Monte Carlo], as are most mid-range Deere engines [Saran].
Most MF engines are made in Finland. FPT come from Italy. CNH transmissions are made in Italy and Belgium. Turbochargers and radiators for both Swiss and UK made Case tractors are made in the UK.

It isn't something I'm up on, but aren't AGCO using SISU engines? That was supposedly why they bought Valtra...

Edit: re-reading your post I think thats what you were meaning. I interpreted it differently

Class still make the Axos and I was offered a choice of either two Axos or 2 Arion 410's just before the virus came the Axos though weren't as high spec as what we had so I was going Arion but with the uncertainty I decided not plus it's hard to move used tractors here so I'm waiting. Last week they offered a further discount but much as I want I think now's a time to save not spend.

Claas made at Le Mans, not Monte Carlo. Just crowing because it's not often that you can be caught out for being wrong!
