Claas tractors

Basically having not used them for the repairs was the problem.

Their letter back said private so I'm not going to reprint that. That's not the done thing by me I'm afraid.

All (genuine)parts came from Mann's halesworth. All (genuine)service items, filters /oils from Mann's halesworth.
All work done by ex Mann's mechanic/employee now Indy claas specialist (@Jon I'm sure would vouch for his thoroughness)
Serviced every yr at around 220hr/yr (service interval 500hrs) can something be over serviced.....?

We warm it up before hard work and cool if down after. It pulls an 8t grain trailer, a 3 furrow plough and press, a 3mtr germinator, a markant 65 baler etc etc. All well within its capabilities.

And to be fair, when it's working it's been excellent. Powerful, nippy, not too fuel hungry, comfortable etc. But by God these bills will break us if they keep coming

But the reply was as expected.

Now the wife's radiotherapy is over I can pursue this a little more closely.....
Sorry to hear of your troubles @carbonfibre farmer, Yes he's a very good mechanic/engineer.

With your tractor repaired at least you'll know it's history until you consider replacement ?

If your dealer was doing the repair would claas of helped out ?I doubt it on a 6 year old tractor.
But your bill would be genuinely massive!
Claas don't like it when farmers get together on here as I found out .

I was talking to a Claas servive manager last year who pointed out that when it came to sorting the JD engine problems then Claas would indeed help out to an extent that depended on the age and hours of the tractor.

In all seriousness, is it worth taking the risk changing to an unknown quantity after spending a small fortune sorting your axos? Unless you can afford to go for a new replacement, you could end up with more problems. What are the chances of a third major repair bill?
That's what iv plumped to do changed my nh with gearbox issues for a new 1.

Yes I think they do .Trouble is Axos is Perkins engine. And to be fair they did change something on ours at 3 years old to do with timing or something .

About the only thing mentioned to us was about the engine. The crank moving on its tabs apparently? If serviced regularly then not a problem? That's what the claas mechanic who delivered the axos said.

I guess most marques would be the shame - seems a pity they`re not interested in taking a look at the failed components though. They may have learnt something.....

In the eyes of the law it is the dealer that is responsible for the supply of faulty goods, so rather than Claas being put under the spotlight it is whoever sold it that should be attending to the problem. Whether the dealer gets any joy or help from the manufacturer we'll never know, but they are probably in a better position to put the pressure on than anyone else.

Is that gearbox @carbonfibre farmer a Renault derived transaxle, rather than a Gima? Looks like a Renault to me with the bull gear reductions and outboard brakes in front of the rear axle. Allways a bit prone to abuse , but otherwise ok gearboxes.
Hmmm not really sure on the gearbox manufacturer:scratchhead:
Looks like gima casting but as you say layout more old school Renault.

Currently being put back together.

Oil in, to the mark and it barely touches the bottom shaft in the box  but a swash?system to go through out the box.

It's be mentioned to me by @two-cylinder (y) that on some Massey gima boxes it's better to have more oil in for jobs like ploughing or it can cause starvation problems? I've always had it right on the mark, maybe more oil needed for in the furrow ploughing?
