We're buying feed barley. Bulls won't go outside. They'll be finished around June. Then spring born calves will be on creep, so can't see our consumption dropping significantly.

I know of one pig ration that is 50/50 I think mills use what's available, particularly in non ruminants.Chicken and pigs use wheat much more than barley.
Chicken and pigs use wheat much more than barley.
was offered £148 by a animal feed mill today
are you tempted,Any prices for 2019 Grain ?
I was offered 150 May 2019 Feed Base, Cambs.
are you tempted,
Feed wheat trading at £155 here, £12 a tonne above liffe futures. These future prices are lies to keep the market down
no they are not keeping price down, at least uphere but they do not reflect the current market. I bet there is some poor s-- being told that futures are x but i can offer you a couple of quid more , !!!!but they're not keeping the price down........oh, unless you have some buyback that's linked to them....
Anybody had any ex combine prices recently, feed winter barley. Had moved up I think @crazy_bull was talking about £125 ex about a month ago in certain locations (apologies if I have this wrong, can't be arsed to trawl back through.....). TIA
My guess would be we are a grain importing nation now and with significant a new industrial usage has fundamentally changed the market dynamicscan anyone explain why the futures market is so far adrift of the actual bid on farm price either short term or longer ,I dont think I can in 40 odd years of selling grain seen the difference to be so large in either cash terms or %s ?? im probably wrong but ever the optimist (think thats a view only held by farmers and then only 1/2 of of us), something tells me not to sell a grain yet and im becoming more convinced every time I look /check
