Combinables Price Tracker

There are a number of users who have to use wheat
cannot use barley or maize

there are also grades of wheat that are more expensive to import especially if the user is based away from the bigger ports
they often cannot take large amounts from one ship in one go

It depends on the value of cash to both parties. I’d book a big chunk at current prices whichever month you choose IMO.

money is so cheap right now - negative interest rates a reality soon i think ?

storage already paid for at £8/t by landowner so my view is they might as well get max value from it and move as late as pos with max carry possible ?

personally i think grain in a store is safer than cash in a bank right now ?

I’ve never regretted getting rid of low quality early in the season. There is maybe an overall shortage of home produced wheat but there is a lot of crap wheat about. I have found mills who will take the lower end specs to be fairly well booked up, and with no export boats actual movement could slow right down IMO.

own tangible asset directly
vs
unsecured creditor in financial institution which is diluting your claims at record rates, and charging you for the privilege

I’m not a fan of selling crop i haven’t harvested yet - not that I never will but i tend not to as a general rule, forward prices have to be mind blowing good to tempt me and even then i would never sell more than 50% of a crop un harvested

I know what you mean but I find if I get to September with nothing sold and you hear of huge yields (FW) and prices tend to fall around Harvest it can take until the following february to get prices to recover. I don't feel comfortable being so exposed then
