no re forward sales for next season yet thankfully other than my milling premium again

pretty much cleared out 2016 harvest now though

OSR averaged £388.85 and wheat £155.90 should be just a couple more loads of wheat to clear up at the end
Have you heard anything of Min premiums for 18 season? Can not see the G1 area going down.

no one offered me 2018 yet

although a lot more gp1 is being grown I'm told a lot is not really making milling as feed wheat growers don't understand how to grow a miller properly

if premiums drop below £15/t I wont grow gp1's and I doubt I will be alone, premium needs to be £20 really min IMO - its the miller choice if they want decent, consistent supply I suggest they take a long term and grown up attitude towards premiums, the one I tend to deal with seems to get it !

Have some Montana in the ground this time as a look see - £30 over gp1 (min 20) so possibility of a £50 total premium over feed but will need a lot of N to get spec

Unfortunately for milling premiums most people hit spec this year some without even trying too hard, even those used to growing feed, so now they think it's easy......, it will be different another year........

I was pretty sure we would vote for Brexit yes

As for a Trump win and Leicester city well who would have thought it !!!

Mostly though I felt yields were nothing special this year (especially OSR) and harvest prices had much more potential upside than the limited downside

As always though that was a gamble, selling grain is

No way I always claim to always get it right but I haven't averaged too badly over the last 5 or 6 years doing nothing more clever than keeping a good relationship with a good merchant and making a bit of time each day to keep up to date with the markets

I've been long and short on OSR a few times this year as well and done ok but not with big money, my averages are physical farm momenents though not including paper trades

This is what we found, years ago, on our heavy Northern clay. Hence we would hit the spec on a good year, but so would everyone else so premiums would be low. Had offers of £3.00 premiums for biscuit wheat before but IMHO it nowhere near compensates for the risk of rejection.
I can grow pretty good milling oats and a nice high bushel weight feed wheat and barley.
