Combine auger stuck out

Trying to cut some winter barley. Folded the auger out on the combine (tx34) but can’t fold it back in again. Ram is pulling it in but it almost looks like it’s flexing the grain tank etc rather than swivelling. We’ve tried pushing the auger by hand and with a loader doesn’t work. Any suggestions? Need to fold the auger in to get it back in the shed before it rains tonight! Unfolded fine and had some grease on it

Hold the auger gently out on a strong rope or strap with loader and remove the ram pin to see if it is the ram or physical binding which is at fault. If all else fails you can carefully lower it in to get it undercover.

Well… managed to get it to shift, soaked it in oil which might have helped. I put plenty of grease on it before I used it so it wouldn’t stick out.. will try that with greasing with it halfway in/out thanks.

There are four grease nipples on the turrett 90 degrees to each other,2 of them are difficult to grease with it right in.Note to self, make sure to grease all and not just the easy ones.

Mine has tubes round the auger and the 4 nipples are side by side easy reached from the step, doesn't stop it sticking though.
My theory. Ground up cereal and dust gets into the turret slot the auger pivots in mixing with grease it goes hard and chokes things up over time. Greasing at different points of the ark helps flush some of the crud out under a bit of pressure and not just relying on the grease being carried round the slot.

It's very clarty but if you can get power harrow grease through a grease gun and grease the swivel in a couple of different places it soon gets them going..
