It'll die off quite rapidly on its own. It’s a pity we haven’t still got Reglone as it made the job a bit easier. If you’re concerned you could try Gozi or Spotlight but I expect it’ll be ok on it’s own.
It’ll need a lot slower drum and wider concave than you would imagine otherwise you’ll end up smashing the stalks up into small sticks that’ll overload or block the sieves. I’d have the bottom sieve shut down to about 1mm and the fan speed as low as it will go. I bought a slow fan speed kit for my combine but you can definitely get away without it. Open up the covers on your unloading augers in the grain tank as it’s difficult to get it to flow out of the tank. You may have to shovel it occasionally if it bridges. Wear a mask as it can be very irritatingly dusty. Don’t harvest it on a windy day or you won’t get any in the trailer. We held big bags on pallet forks over a trailer ( in case we spilt any ) and tipped the combine over on its levelling ( Hillmaster) to lower the unloading auger height. Don’t expect a huge tonnage, if you get more than 100kg/ha you’ll be doing well.
