I have been contacted with the above organisation about a debt of several thousand pounds that we have with a company that has gone into liquidation.

They have said that there is a "strong chance" of recouping what we are owed. They want £750.00 to do this and they then add on a % to the debt which covers their costs.

I have usually worked on the principle that the "first loss is the best loss". However I am tempted in this situation to spend the money as the company that went bust is now trading again and the owner set up a new company some weeks before the business we traded with went bust!

Also one of the directors seemed to take out a chunk of cash that sent the business over the edge.

Anyone have experience of this debt collecting company? Should I spend the money or just accept I have been shafted.

Read the Google reviews (here: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=c...8#lrd=0x487e65ae01c8cc53:0x79c1023cee1f54fa,1,,).

They get either 5* or 1*, which to me suggests they a bunch of chancers who'll take your money and give you nothing in return, but have worked out how to log on and give themselves good reviews on Google.

A further bit of googling suggests they are the same people who have run various similar 'debt recovery' companies from the same address, all leaving a trail of unsatisfied customers.

If I was you I'd keep my £££ in my pocket, it'll only go the way of the existing debt.

I've used these guys before to recover a £5000 debt, it cost me about £1200 upfront but I got the full £5000 back with 18 months.

Like any debt collector they can't guarantee to get 100% of the debt back but they did a good job for me.

New member? Strong recommendation? Oh well, if you think its a sound investment, i should jump in with both feet. Thanks for the advice.....

In many cases, we get let in, however we have Trading Standards to protect us.

If a Company uses deception to sell us goods or services, they are breaking the law.

Could f6100153 maybe give a few more details of the type of claim it was to help others form a balanced judgement ?

Personally , I would think it's chucking good money after bad . I'm also of the opinion that just sometimes , it's better to let go of the past , write it off to experience , try not to do the same thing again , and get on with your life and earning your today's living . But , I only see what's here , and don't know the true circumstances , and of course , bear in mind the good old saying"good advice is often given freely , and that's precisely what it's worth " .

They are based in sunderland relatively local to me I can't comment on their success rate "yet" , they are doing a job for me where a company went bust, but seemed to move most of their assets before collapse , I think it cost me £350.00 in advance. So far no payment from the debtor but they do ring me regularly to give me an update and to be honest its a similar story most months up till now this has been ongoing for all most a year now.
The theory they work on is that if they cause enough waves in terms of adding pressure to the former directors in terms of allegations of wrongful trading , trading while insolvent and fraud via the receivers , and department of business the the Directors or Director will ultimately assuming they personally have some money will settle out of their own pocket rather than be dragged through a court.
The theory is good but no results yet , that said I know the Director in my case is not skint ,he manipulated the bankruptcy of his business to his benefit and took a load of business's for a lot of money , I have written of the money in my mind but figured that if I can be thorn in his side for while its worth £350 to me . Assuming CDI are actually doing something !!!
On balance I think they are legit I asked plenty of question before I paid them and can generally smell a rat , I assume that it will take a while for a debt to be proved , wrongful trading to be proven and ultimately pressure to increase on the debtor non of these are likely to happen quickly as you are dealing with receivers and government departments so on.
That said if the directors have no assets you are not going to get any where so not much point in using them.
They have contacted me every month to update me I don't chase them, and they have not asked for any more money both good points , but they have not as yet recovered any money so the jury is still out , but if they were complete frauds they would not ring me every month, they would have taken my money and ran.

This company is clearly not GDPR compliant.
I received an unsolicited cold call 6 months ago.
The sales pitch is about the "Free investigation"
Which is basically a Google search of my company, companies house, the gazette and maybe social media platforms. Nothing 'new'
And then they told me stuff about my debtor which they also found online. Again. Nothing new either. But also dropped false hints like, he's got this and that to entice you that your debtor has got the money to pay. The kind of sales pitch you would get standing in a small town market with claims that all your problems will be solved. Think Del Boy and Rodney.

The deal is pay for a subscription and we'll send a letter. The letter is extremely poor quality and does not follow the legal protocol as set out by the Courts. If you have received one from them. Take it straight to your lawyer.

Secondly, when you sign for a subscription, they go by some company name but they all lead to the same directors who take your money and then go insolvent so you can keep paying but you'll get nothing because the company doesn't actually exist. Look them up on Companies House or the Gazette!

Ian William Kings and Andrea Lynn Marshall are their Insolvency Practitioner
The Axis Building Maingate, Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead, NE11 0NQ

Paul Hughes and Stephen Hall should be investigated as rogue directors.

Please I urge you to do your own investigations before parting with your money to this company.

If you've received any correspondence from them, take it straight to your lawyers even if it's Citizen Advice and you'll see they're a joke.

I know it's a bit late but I hope this will come up in a search result and some poor soul will not be frightened into it because it does sound so very alarming if you're not clued up with where you stand legally or if you're not that IT literate either. I highly suspect their online reviews are mostly faked.
