Had a gestapo inspection on 3/2/22, which was expected. The inspector just rang up to fix the audit date, no coresspondence arrived from RT informing the date. He spent 30 minutes outside and 2 hours indoors checking records and passing time (and wasting my time) until his next appointment, his timing was perfect. There were no non-conformances until he got ready to leave when he asked to see the H&S policy. He was delighted to find that there wasn't one in place and immediately got his report out to tick box the non-conformance, even though he knew there were no employees here just a one man band! A week later RT informed me that a farm audit was to be carried out in 8 weeks!! Too many jobsworth who can't get things right. Today received a cheeky letter that corrective evidence for the non-conformances was required and to give the matter urgent attention or my membership would be suspended. I've got 28 days I shall comply on the last day!!! What a load of bol...ks and waste of time.
What the heck is a farm audit?

if your a one man band how did the inspector justify the need for a HSE policy?

They do by saying there are likely to be contractors or delivery drivers visiting the farm.
I was done on the same thing
did they ask to see a copy before venturing on the premises?

if not they must be in breach of health and safety

i think I may just write a policy making all buildings out of bounds to visitors on hse grounds.
that will save the gestapo nosying round the chem and grain stores

and if it’s written down it must be right.

i genuinely wonder what they would do in such a situation.

They don’t care about Actual health and safety, or they wouldn’t have made me and mrs SF climb onto the fertiliser stack to sheet it ( because she said a member if the public might see it) so a non conformance .

RT have gold plated their own gold plating.

They said a written H&S policy would be needed for everyone with employees (previously it was just if 5 or more employees).

When the standard came in, it seemed to have changed to everyone needed a H&S policy, and train employees

No wonder we all get sick of RT.

In the chairman's blurb on first page of new combinable crops standards, Guy Smith says H&S policy is a legal requirement, therefore RT are going to inspect it's in place.

Guy is WRONG, it isn't a legal requirement to have a written H&S policy if under 5 employees.

It's a legal requirement for me to MOT the Land Rover, file my VAT returns, hold a gun license if own a 12 bore, insure the tractor, have employers liability insurance, etc.

Are RT going to inspect everything that is required by law, but has nothing to do with food safety?

They've got power crazy, and they need competition.

Well I’m knackered then as I don’t have a gun licence so it’s a non conformance for me🤦‍♂️🙈

He knew that from the beginning. He was just excited to report a non-conformance even if it didn't apply in this case. He was ready to leave, these ar**h*l*s have targets to meet!! Was glad to see him go!
