Correct Method to pull/tow a JD when stuck in the mud?

Hi all, was wondering if any of you familiar with JD IVT tractors have figured out how to give it a pull with another tractor or digger when it’s stuck. I know that putting it in N for neutral and a weight on the seat and a crawler speed may be one way when your on your own but I haven’t tried it.

What do you mean by 'stuck'? If the engine is running you just put it in forward, allow the wheels to creep forward a bit and then get another tractor to give you a yank along. The ground sliding along under the wheels won't give the transmission any grief if the wheels are already turning also.

Or are you talking about towing a dead tractor where the engine won't start?

Scroll back up. OP is asking how to do it when he's on his own, i.e. without a second driver.

If it’s just stuck in mud put it in neutral and give it a pull gently to extract it. If your on flattish ground it won’t go far and it will be tethered to the tow tractor. As long as the engine is running and it’s in neutral it will be fine in my experience. If the engine or transmission has died and it won’t move with the come home relay in its emergency position then remove the plastic cowling to the side of the clutch pedal and connect the clutch pedal to the cable that sits there doing nothing (it’s the park lock cable, the only time I needed it it cost me many many thousands because the transmission had shat it’s self again) it takes a strong left leg to disengage it and keep it disengaged.

Not stuck “at the moment😁” but putting it in N doesn’t release the park lock so nothing will move it. I know you can access the panel behind the clutch, unscrew a connection there, and faff about with the clutch pedal to get park lock disengaged but I would have thought there would be a way to tow the tractor easily.

If you put it into drive and then into N it should stay in neutral, at least I am sure mine does, infact i think mine will take park lock off if you put it straight I to n. Will try and remember to look tomorrow. What model do you have?

I have a 6145r and a 155r both command pro ivt. I’m seem to remember that say two years ago if stuck you could give a pull with the digger or another tractor if in N and weight on seat. I discovered this year that that does not work anymore so not even a 13 ton machine will budge one if it’s stuck as park lock is still on. I know it’s probably a safety thing as towing on your own is risky as is anything around machinery but I thought someone smarter than me has a work around! Thanks BTW for all the responses.
