Watched Countryfile start to finish for the first time ever without shouting at the tele tonight apart from the bit where they quoted CO2 emissions during the production of nitrogen fertilisers forgetting that CO2 is captured for the food industry.
Regenerative farming the focus and an almost balanced programme. Do the producers read this forum?

So if your regenerative you don't spread any fertiliser or use any chemicals.

What a load of tosh!
Another regenerative myth!

it really is cloud cook land to think that farmers should be going back so far to lock carbon (that others produce)as well as provide food. you wouldn't say to the bank of england right we need to get back to coins for money or say everyone had to do back to horse n carts. its getting daft . as i look out across my valley tonight see grass fields arable rotations woods rivers that all look in good order.i really dont see what they are getting at

£550 a tonne for wheat with the same nutrition? I wonder if it would ever be any good for milling or just would not rise? If you can get someone daft enough to pay the extra that's good marketing but don't knock the quality of the conventionally grown wheat. If the whole world went organic we would be on £1000 a tonne and half of the poorest in the world would starve to death.

More than double enough calories produced in the world.

Reduce food waste first step.

Cheap food isn't cheap in environmental costs as we are now paying for!

Who is writing the Manifesto for the BBC? This programme last night was a blatant promotion of regenerative farming over conventional methods. It is not a case that that they explore this as an alternative, their decision is made and there is no counter debate. It was interesting that David got £550 per ton and his margins beat Adam's. But the follow up point is that David's market for that "quality" of product is limited. If we all produced that way, there would be no premium. If a boat left with export wheat, the Davids would get the same price as the Adams.
As a licence payer and supporter of the BBC, I am really annoyed about how it has been hijacked by people who are promoting agendas rather than presenting information and debate.
