I've a couple headlands like this.
They're not actually wet, just almost perpetual shade means always moist.
Going forwards I will be looking at alternatives, preferably something the wildlife will eat in preference to the rest of the field too.

If planted in September wheat normally is OK there.
Osr was ok last time, beans seem to be coping now.
Spring wheat was a waste of time.
Later winter wheat same.
Thinking maybe some efa stuff in future.
Now I can DD it in the cost and hassle factor is much reduced.

Yes that's it, and running around with the kit firms it up compounding the drainage problem.

I planted some trees under the woodland premium scheme in odd corners 0.5 Ha in total. Wouldn't do it again on good land even if it is shaded. It causes more problems than it solves and a lot of extra work. In fact somebody mentioned using a chain saw which is a far better option.

That was meant to be about 1.5Ha planted with trees, not 0.5.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
