Cover crops

Sorry don`t venture onto these threads very often so might already be the answer I`m looking for here somewhere.
starting to use more cover crops, certainly before spring crops.
At moment just buying a ready mixed bag of 26% Vetch 26% Tillage Radish 26% Mustard 14% Crimson Clover and the rest Phacelia
Not a cheap mix.
So are there any cheaper options that would do the same sort of job or better
Grow oats, so have them on hand

What's "not cheap" and what's your sowing rate?

Buying straight and mixing your own is always cheaper. For instance the above mix has too much mustard compared to the radish and vetch.

It's best to avoid oats before a spring cereal, unless it's oats.

As above, cheapest to mix your own, and don’t be afraid to shop around. I’ve gone for sunflowers, phacelia, mustard, radish and linseed, seed cost £25/ha
