Covid 19.. Milk price impact?

So, any thoughts?

Could get dicey if all the food service outlets and restaurants get closed.

Sure, cheese, butter etc will be ok..but there's alot of milk going into cafe's and food service.

Are we in for a hammering?

And if we are, then who is going to compensate us! ? It's going to be s big queue..

People will have a lot of time to sit at home and drink tea, coffee and possibly even milk, aslong as outlets stay open would say milk consumption could even go up.

When you go to the local village and see people running out of the shop with 8 pints of milk I’d say we are in for a price rise if this virus is prolonged.

Personally we closed the farms down on Friday. We have vulnerable family members and some of our staff have vulnerable family members too, as a team the decision was taken to do what we could ourselves to limit the impact on those family members while still being able to operate a business

How are you closing down? We have staff living off farm critical to the function of the farm

The milk has to be picked up and processed though, which requires staff to turn up to work.
I think governments will have a big problem on their hands in a week or two. Everyone is told to self isolate but so many services must continue. I can see them having to change their tune and force people back to work.

No reps, going on farm walks, no talking to the tanker/feed lorry.

Same as this. All delivery drivers asked to stay in the cab. All non essential visitors cancelled, vet visits for the spring herd cancelled and all cap ex spending has been postponed. We have 11 staff who all live off farm but if they have agreed that they can have groceries delivered and most of there partners have either been sent home or work from home anyway.

I for one don’t want to be responsible for one of our employees relatives bee Er ing taken seriously Ill. I also want to assure our employees they still have a job and a home after it all blows over
