Covid virus going forward

Vaccines were not about stopping the infection rate, merely to prevent serious illness

Which is what all vaccines do basically. They can't stop you becoming infected with anything.

I do think the population will basically have had covid before long. Apparently over 90% of people under 20 have antibodies I believe I read the other day.

The median age of people who have died from the virus is about 80 or something which is pretty staggering really.

if 90% of the under 20s have antibodies does that means natural immunity from a recent infection and then why do they also need a vaccine

Just look how many tests we do!
Would we need so many tests if there wasn't so many cases, as many with symptoms don't officially register the fact it would seem 49,000 is more likely to be the tip of an iceberg, we seem to be doing something very different to the rest of the world, why?

It would seem it is now very prevalent in younger people, luckily their parents being younger would have been some of the last to be vaccinated so the vaccine is very likely to be still protecting the parents to a reasonable level, not sure what happens as time goes on & it is still swirling around schools & their parents vaccines are nearing the 5 or 6 month time when the vaccine protection tends to weaken if booster shots aren't available.

How's the UK treating the unvaccinated?
Our fearless leader is suggesting that they will miss out on everyday things. Almost certainly you will need to be jabbed (I am) for work and when the vaccine passports arrive, you'll need to show them everywhere.
I think health care, chemists and supermarkets are about the only places you'll be able to go.

Still level 2 restrictions in the South Island, its a bit tricky to find out when the last south island case was but it was either about a year ago or may 2020.

Can only report my own circumstances but had my second dose back in early May, son just tested positive but absolutely no effect on me.

Just out of interest, i am potentially going back to a football match soon whats tge risks of catching covid in football ground with around 10_000 in it?
I went to a footie match on the 7th Sept , full house it was ,and 2 days later had a cold that developed into a sore throat and cough that I still havent fully got rid of .

Probably why my other half frowns on me even thinking of attending another - before I get my hip replacement in 3 weeks !!

But to be honest ,I wouldnt worry about catching covid normally ,its just the altered circumstances for me , that put the procedure in doubt !!
