A few pics of our home made one based on a Jacobson 3 wheel mower. Removed the 3 mowing units and replaced them with a hydraulic up/down arm which rotates through 180 degrees manually so can sweep either on the left or right.
The brush is at a fixed distance from the centre so you drive with one wheel against the kerb to get the full brush on the beds. The direction of rotation of the brush can be altered depending whether it is on the left or right hand side.
The pitch of the brush can be altered forwards/backwards and left/right via the slots at the end of the arm. The hydraulic motor has been put in the centre of the brush to ensure there is enough weight on the brush so it sweeps effectively (its only a single acting up/down circuit on the arm). The motor is recessed into the brush slightly so it fits under the cubicle divisions.
Built a frame to go round the side and back to protect the engine and radiator. Hydrostatic drive, 2 forward speeds and reverse, £500 for the mower, £80 for the brush, hydraulic motor for the brush was salvaged off something else.
Used every day when the cows are housed, bedding with chopped straw plus lime twice a week. Did think about dispensing lime at the same time but decided against it because of sitting in the dust!! Lime is applied separately.
Uses about a tank of diesel every 3 months and has been very reliable.
Sorry about all the pictures, couldn’t work out how to upload them and now I can’t get rid of them

I phoned these people up last year to find out the dimensions of this particular machine and never heard back from them. Probably not bother buying one off them which is a pitty becauseid of likely bought I’ve
