Is the reputation of the Trio down to the fashion for ever bigger tractors on a 3m machine working at greater and greater speeds? We have a T7.210 on a 2.5m and travel at about 8k. It is fitted with Metcalfe NG legs and they barely make a mark on the surface, certainly no mixing.

Yes there’s bits (not all) needs “lifting”, I love our sumo it does a great job but also mixes blackgrass well! The joker is great for top 2-3”.
Want to keep as much blackgrass seed on top as possible & lift certain areas, plough not an option for a few more years on these fields - again due to potential blackgrass .
Will go with joker, ld subsoiler & joker again- same sort of outcome as sumo/joker , same sort of time/cost & hopefully less blackgrass mixed up.
Don’t worry plough fans we’ll still be doing plenty of ploughing catching up where we couldn’t last year as too hard & also what’s due this time!!
Cheers for replies, dh

600 discs you could put any thing you want in front of 800 mm packer , plenty of room or if you have one made just makes chassis a bit longer to suit , you could put paddle board in , deal direct with terry , if your after one , go see him after harvest when he quieter , his yard is a chaos and organised disorder , you will not break it ,
Seen 875 cat brought down with 7 legs in 3.5 metre machine and had done 10000 acre with it and not a crack or weld pull on it

Are his subsoiler legs stronger these days? A neighbour of mine had a 7 leg subsoiler from him a long time ago & the legs splayed out.

Dig a hole

Why do you assume that he hasn’t already done this??
Have you actually read the thread?
He’s asking if it’s best to subsoil before or after Joker. He has already made the decision to subsoil, that is not the question.
If you haven’t got anything useful to add then don’t bother!!

You'd be surprised at how many don't use a spade before sticking large amounts of steel in the ground regardless of whether it is actually needed or not, nor whether the soil moisture is suitable. That wasn't a daft statement you jumped on. :)

Let face it, 80% of all subsoiling done is a waste of time and effort, and the other 20% is fairly doubtful.

I know there are lots of people that never actually use a spade. But my point is that’s not the question here.

Not interested in getting into an argument just felt that the “use a spade” comment was a bit pointless.
