cutting box section

i bought a secondhand hardi pretty cheap, but the booms are bent and crooked.

The U-profile in wich the nozzleholders sit is 60x45. Not available direct. 60x40 also not available.

So if i take a 60x60 box section 3meters long wich i already have and plasmacut it lenghtways so i have the 60x45 U-profile .

do you think it will bend with cutting ?

Possibly, but if yo could tack weld it on to a heavy beam that would prevent it. Also remember to have the seam in the waste section.

will tackweld it to an H-beam i have.

Just scared that it will warp and flex, and i already have a warped and flexed boom

I would have thought a 60x40 channel with spacers would do the job but a picture might help.

It will cut very easy without de forming, we’ve done similar with box and done with 9” from time to time aswell but be quicker for you to get local steel place with a press brake to bend a sheet for you if you need a few. They could do 2.4m lengths which nay be to short?

Whenever I cut box into channel, there is some distortion which I put down to residual stresses in the box from the folding and welding to make it.

How longer length do you need? I expect a local engineering firms could cut strips from sheet and press them into 60x45 U sections. They might only be around 8 foot long each though.

I need 4 sections, each 2850mm long, i have sent out emails for quotes for bending the channel. you can only order trough email and they only deliver, you can't get it yourself. So now we wait .

Thank you for the offer, but i am in belgium. Haulage would be a bit expensive.

I’d be inclined to get some sheet cut and folded if I wasn’t in a rush.

What ever you do don’t make it much heavier or rest of the sprayer will not stand it been the done that.
