Fair play, won't need his top coat nowI think he is milking about 200 but has his heifers contract reared now. Not sure if he has any rented land, if he does it won't be a lot. He has an Arla 360 contract which I assume he will be taking with him. It's a big move for him but I am sure he is up for the challenge.
Do you know how much The Stubb Farm at Kirklinton/Brampton sold for,and who bought it? Cows were sold at Carlisle a few weeks ago, they looked cracking cows.Must be some farm he’s leaving that one for

Exciting dairy opportunity on the Isle of Bute
A UNIQUE dairying opportunity is available for an entrepreneurial individual or family on the Isle of Bute.www.thescottishfarmer.co.uk
What's the history here, from what I can find only one milk buyer first milk. Two good farms about 1600 acres in total, would suit two blocking calving herds to make a all year round supply. Am tempted have a go but moving from s area with many milk buyers to just one looks high risk
That was my gut feeling, wouldn't they be better being let as arable mix rather than dairy with noose around your neck. Not sure about the particulars of those farms, but many of the milk producers on the island got out in 2017 when they went down to about 13ppl and FM were charging them the haulage to get the milk off the island. Some unsuccessfully tried to find other buyers.
Any organic options up there?Previous tenant used to milk around 250 and had about 800 sheep If I recall correctly. Spoke to him a few times but my memory is pretty rubbish.
Not really an arable kind of areaThat was my gut feeling, wouldn't they be better being let as arable mix rather than dairy with noose around your neck.

I read that about cheese factory poor job. They seam kean to have cows there by September. Guess it suit a high risk taker. No don’t think so. I think it will be a decent enough farm but having it as a dairy could be tricky longer term. FM closed the cheese factory on the island and it reopened making vegan cheese!!
It can’t be much more than £50, be haulage will kill every input,Will all come down to rent. £250/acre and forget it. £50/acre and it might swim
