Right have to do up sitting room after a leak in the bathroom above. Room last done up 30 yrs ago. Was always damp before he drylined it. Then was fairly snug and dry. Always had an open fire going in winter.
The way it was done before was the wall which is old stone with no doc or anything had a scratch coat applied to even the walls. Then they put a sheet of blue plastic dpc on wall then nailed plastic 2"x1" battens then normal plasterboard.
I've taken all down to the scratch coat. The walls are mostly dry but some are damp. I taught they would be covered in mould but are fine.
Now I would like to just bang up some insulated plasterboard but am a little concerned I would create a breeding ground for mould. Any advice that won't cost too much am fairly handy so it's all diy and the budget is non existent
