we had a sick cow, vet examined her, couldn't find anything much wrong with her, except she was really sick, and coughing up large amounts of clear liquid, decision made to send her on, she was going back quickly, obviously in distress, so we euthanised her.
The cause was pretty clear then, right up where the udder attaches to the cows stomach, there was a small hole, through which you could see it's guts. DD had eaten right through the hide, and into the cow.
And where that hole was, right up in the udder cleft, you could not see it, without lying down, under the cow, to look up. Something none of us do. Another lesson learnt.

Yes the Quill green gloom is great for foot digi.

For udder cleft; you can use hibiscrub and warm water for 3 days in a row if she is a calm cow, then rapiderma after.

Farm i used to work on had a cow's die of this. They had robot's put in a year before and got lazy. Stockman ship was shocking.
I used to tell them about it as you can smell it. They ignored me.

I left.

we presumed it was on the hoof, didn't look bad, but never even thought about getting it right up under the cows gut, you would have had a very difficult time, to spot it.
but sure as heck we will check for similar again!
