Deadline for drying wood on RHI?

Would that be in order to assess installations for business rates?

So a farm that’s installed a straw boiler to provide heat to a grain drier how are they going to rate that because it’s just a grain drier at the end of the day.

I Think you will be fine. They are after those who took the knackered old in efficient oil boilers out of the farm cottage out I suspect.

Even then how can they rate a heating system in a house? It’s a bit far fetched to say the least.

Scale it up, what about a farm with a Grainstore, farm house and a few sheds converted to commercial which get sold heat?

The RHI was designed to reduce carbon emissions and take oil out of the loop. Now that many have done this I wouldn't be suprised if the cash strapped councils try to find a way to tax it some how,

But again even if a boiler is installed providing heat to a grainstore, a house and a few sheds, what’s it got to do with rates?

What’s the difference between the same set up using electricity for heat in the grain store and sheds? If they rate biomass heat then they should rate electric/gas/oil heat?

I just can’t see how this would stand up in court as a legal argument.

Hi everyone,

Thanks, interesting discussion! In our company front page is a picture of our latest 2x999KW drying project to Hull where we supplied technology for the local installer and we made commissioning just before the end of March. https://www.winnoenergy.com/

We have got WID boilers and walking floors available for the new installation or fuel storage upgrades:

Happy to help for the new and old installations and I do apologize for the spamming.

I had a chat with a gentleman who supplies boilers the other day, apparently they are wanting to check to make sure everyone is burning the right kinds of chip.

Also that the people supplying the chip are supplying the right stuff.

It looks like they may try and crack down on people burning anything other than virgin wood.

Indeed, this has cause huge ructions in the wood recycling industry. Apparently an audit of a load of wood burners that were only allowed to burn Grade A wood discovered that the grand total of 0 were compliant...

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
