Decent Rj45 connectors

The cat6 cable we have used will not physically push into some of the plastic and plastic/metal cat6 rj45 plugs. I have tried a bunch and a load have gone in the bin

You’re far more likely to get a cord that actually meets Category 6 spec if you buy factory made / terminated patch leads. Plenty available at decent prices.

Fixed (solid core) cabling (jack to jack) is fine as you should be able to terminate that without any tools, just keep the twists up as close as you can onto the IDCs on the back of the jack.

It’s normal for the different colour pairs to have different twist ratios too, so some pairs will appear “looser” than others. Don’t retwist / overtwist the pairs to compensate.

I will use proper patch leads when we get it all into a patch board but we have to make stuff work as the house internals are done around it so just wanted some decent plugs.

Can you not temporarily terminate all your solid cables into the back of a 1RU patch panel with IDCs on the back? Probably going to be cheaper and definitely easier than crimping plugs into solid core cable. You just need enough cable slack if you're going to re-terminate the cables at a later date.

Perhaps something along these lines...
